Terms of Use

Effective 4 September 2026

A FroggyHub product

These terms cover your use of RepPlate. They are meant to be readable, so they are short.

Agreement

By downloading or using RepPlate you agree to these terms. RepPlate is distributed through the App Store, so Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement and the App Store terms also apply to your use of the app.

If you do not agree to these terms, do not use RepPlate.

The RepPlate service

RepPlate lets you photograph a meal, or choose an existing photo, and returns an estimate of what is in it: the foods it recognises, approximate portions, and the resulting calories, protein, carbohydrates, and fat. You can adjust quantities, remove foods that were detected incorrectly, save meals, and track daily totals against optional calorie and protein targets.

Recognition is AI-assisted; the nutrition values are calculated from public nutrition reference data.

Nutrition estimates

Everything RepPlate produces is an estimate. Specifically:

  • food recognition can be wrong, particularly for mixed dishes, sauces, and foods hidden inside others
  • portion estimates from a photograph can be wrong
  • nutrition databases differ from each other, and from the specific food you actually ate
  • preparation method — oil, butter, cooking loss — can change a meal substantially without changing how it looks

RepPlate is provided for general fitness and nutrition tracking. It is not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and it is not a substitute for a doctor or a registered dietitian. Do not rely on it for clinical decisions, and speak to a qualified professional about any medical or dietary condition.

Your responsibilities

  • Review the estimates RepPlate gives you rather than accepting them blindly.
  • Correct quantities and remove misidentified foods when you spot them.
  • Use your own judgement about what you eat.
  • Do not misuse or interfere with the service.

Subscriptions

RepPlate includes a limited free experience. RepPlate Pro is a subscription that unlocks unlimited scanning.

  • Subscriptions are purchased through the App Store, and Apple processes the billing.
  • Where a subscription auto-renews, it renews according to App Store terms unless you cancel it.
  • You manage, change, and cancel your subscription through your Apple account settings, not through us.
  • The prices, terms, and renewal dates shown by the App Store are authoritative.

Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple under its own policies.

Acceptable use

Please do not:

  • automate or script the service to extract value from it at scale
  • attempt to bypass scan limits, subscription checks, or entitlement enforcement
  • reverse-engineer the app, except where law gives you a right we cannot restrict
  • interfere with, overload, or probe the infrastructure behind RepPlate
  • submit content that is unlawful, or that you have no right to submit

Third-party services

RepPlate depends on third parties to work: AI infrastructure for food recognition, public nutrition reference data, Apple for distribution and payments, and subscription-management infrastructure. Those services have their own terms, and their availability and behaviour are not under our control.

The current list is in the RepPlate Privacy Policy.

Availability and changes

We change RepPlate over time. Features may be added, changed, or removed, and the providers behind them may be swapped. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability.

If we make a material change to these terms, the effective date at the top of this page changes.

Disclaimer

RepPlate is provided as it is. We do not warrant that its food recognition, portion estimates, or nutrition figures are accurate or complete, and we do not promise that the service will always be available.

Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Apple licence

RepPlate is licensed to you under Apple’s standard terms for App Store apps. Read Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement.

These terms sit alongside that licence and describe RepPlate specifically. Where they conflict on a point Apple’s licence governs, Apple’s licence applies.
