A FroggyHub product

Everything below covers the things people ask about most. If your question is not here, email us — a real person reads it.

Scanning meals

Point the camera at your meal and take the photo, or pick an existing photo from your library. RepPlate identifies the foods it can see, estimates how much of each is there, and works out the calories and macros.

Getting a better scan

  • Shoot from above or at a slight angle, so the whole plate is visible.
  • Good light helps more than anything else.
  • One plate per photo beats a whole table.
  • If something is buried under a sauce or inside a wrap, expect to correct it.

Fixing a scan

Every result is editable before you save. Adjust the quantity of anything the portion estimate got wrong, and delete any food that was detected incorrectly. Then save the meal, and it lands in your history and your daily totals.

Nutrition accuracy

RepPlate combines AI food recognition with structured nutrition reference data. The AI identifies what is on the plate and estimates the portion; the calories and macros come from public nutrition data and are calculated from that portion.

That means the numbers are estimates, not measurements. They can be off when:

  • the meal is a mixed dish or a recipe rather than distinct foods
  • sauces, dressings, or cooking oil are involved but not visible
  • the portion is larger or smaller than it looks from one angle
  • the preparation method differs from the reference food that was matched

Editing quantities is the single highest-leverage thing you can do for accuracy. If you know the chicken was 200 g, set it to 200 g — the macros recalculate from there.

Subscriptions

RepPlate Pro unlocks unlimited scanning. Everything else stays as it is — Pro is about how much you can scan, not about hiding features behind a wall.

Managing or cancelling

Subscriptions are billed by Apple, so you manage them in your Apple account rather than in RepPlate. On your iPhone: open Settings, tap your name at the top, then Subscriptions, then RepPlate. Apple documents the full flow in Manage subscriptions on your Apple device.

Restoring a purchase

If you reinstalled RepPlate or moved to a new device, use Restore Purchases in the app. Make sure you are signed in to the same Apple Account you bought the subscription with — a restore can only find purchases made by that account.

Refunds

App Store refunds are handled by Apple under its own policies. Request one through Apple Support, not through us.

Troubleshooting

A scan failed
Try the photo again in better light, with the plate filling more of the frame. If it keeps failing on the same photo, the meal may be hard to read — you can still log the foods and set the quantities yourself.
A food was not recognised, or was recognised as something else
Delete the wrong item and adjust the ones that are right. Unusual, regional, and heavily mixed dishes are the hardest cases.
Nothing happens, or the scan hangs
Scanning needs a network connection. Check you are online, then reopen the app and try again.
RepPlate cannot open the camera or your photos
iOS controls that permission. Open Settings, find RepPlate, and turn on Camera and Photos access.
Your subscription is not recognised
Use Restore Purchases while signed in to the Apple Account you purchased with. If it still does not appear, email us and say which Apple Account you used.

Privacy and your data

The short version: RepPlate does not ask for your name or email, your meal photos are sent for analysis rather than kept as part of your history, and saved meals store the nutrition record rather than the picture. The RepPlate Privacy Policy is the full version, including the third parties involved.

Deleting your data

Email hello@froggyhub.com and say you want your data deleted.

One honest caveat: RepPlate identifies you by an anonymous identifier rather than an account, and the app does not yet show you that identifier — so there is nothing you can quote that pins the request to your data. Tell us roughly when you started using RepPlate, the Apple Account any subscription was bought with, and a couple of recent saved meals. We will use that to narrow it down, and we will say so plainly if it is not enough to be confident we are deleting the right records.

What happens to the details you send us is covered under Support correspondence in the privacy policy.
